Jessica Hohman
Because Miami sports are on their summer hiatus, we here at MHT have decided to shake up the Hawk of the Week awards. Until school starts up again in August, we will highlight outstanding accomplishments by Miami students and alumni outside the realm of athletics, such as academics or volunteering. With that in mind . . . .
Our new Hawk of the Week is Jessica Hohman. Hohman, who graduated in May, will move to London to pursue graduate work at the London School of Economics and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine as a Marshall Scholar, Miami’s first since 2000. She plans to get a master’s in health policy, finance, and planning. During her time at Miami, Hohman won numerous awards for academic excellence and spent time at Oxford (that’s Oxon., not 45056) studying health care systems around the world. A Harrison Scholar, she double majored in history and chemistry and minored in political science. In addition to her ambitious goals for graduate study in England, Hohman is applying to medical schools. Her eventual goal is to work as a primary care physician in an urban free clinic while serving as an advocate for universal health care. Congratulations to Jessica Hohman, your Hawk of the Week!
