The pitching argument does make you think that the SR is easier to win than the Regional but looking at Kent State's case and the statistics, winning a Super Regional on the road is much much harder.
78 of the 104 Super Regionals have been won by the host team (75%). And KSU had to go all the way to Eugene instead of the drive to Gary, IN.
another interesting number 81 of 105 (77%) Game 1 winners have gone on to win the series.

Would you rather have to win 3-4 games on the road or just 2 games on the road??? I'll take 2 please. That alone makes winning a Regional easier. If you assume that you are going to have to beat a Top 25 school on the road twice in both situations, the Regional becomes tougher because there are other teams in the mix aswell and they deplete your pitching.
