Just a reminder that he never won anything in the MAC. He will win nothing on Labor Day weekend 2012 as well.

It's all a ploy to make them believe that they are offsides.

I think OSU and Urban Meyer are not yet on the same page. I think he's going to wait and see what the NCAA is going to do. Those decisions have not come down yet.

My parents best friends talked to a trustee on Saturday and said it was a done deal. Was going to be announced during the OSU-Duke game, just like OSU announced Tress at a game, but now they are unsure if they want to take away from the actual game since it is Duke

Did they ask why Urban REALLY had health problems at FLA?

I hope they know they're getting Urbs at about 70% of his former self.

He will never be the detail freak, control maniac that he was in Florida because his body will simply not let him.
And he's going to to find it much, much more difficult to recruit at Ohio State.

I think you're dramatically underestimating this.

I'm pretty confident that over the next few years, the Buckeyes will attain world peace, kill Osama again, and revive the economy...at least that's what my friends in Columbus are predicting.

I feel for Fickell. He was put in a position where there was winning for him. I hope he gets a ton of money because he had a crappy task to do this year and actually did a pretty decent job of it — not just on the field but he's done it without many of his own people, without badmouthing the former coach, former players, or the school all while knowing he wasn't anyone's choice and was going to be shown the door almost regardless of what he might accomplish.

His head coaching contract was for 2 years at $775,000 per year (per Gene Smith at Fickell's announcement press conference, although not sure if that sum includes TV gigs and other monies coaches receive). I assume he will get a buy-out for the 2nd year if the Urban Meyer rumors are true.

If Urban does get the job and doesn't want Fickell on staff, then the administration should look into giving Fickell a nice off job within athletics. I agree with the other posts above that Fickell has done more with less time and preparation than other coaches.

Fickell will be a HC somewhere else next year...his efforts this year after "Tatoogate" have not gone unnoticed.

I've seen a few reports say he'll stay as DC.

Also, is speculating about rogue programs allowed? Because I heard that his lack of interest in the Miami job was due to his family not wanting to leave Columbus.

IF Fickell stays as DC (is offered the position), $500K per year is a living wage. Of course, I still think he'll land a 5 year HC deal at $750,000K+ per year...just not sure where yet.

Ole Miss might ask. Or Penn State.

That's hilarious. MAYBE the now vacant Akron job.

I certainly wouldn't blame him for staying. Fickell surely knew going in the only way he'd get the job on a permanent basis was winning the Big 10 or something. It's not unrealistic to think that five or six more years as a DC under Meyer could result in his defense winning a national title, which could lead to a very good HC gig, and possibly a return to the head job at OSU down the line. I wouldn't wish the Ole Miss job on anyone, nor Penn State.
