| Nick, so are all of these new conference affiliations in effect for the start of next season? And if so, how does this work with scheduling? Most schools have their OOC opponents, but if these OOC teams become conference teams, how does this work? Do they just keep former conference teams on the schedule and make them the new OOC matchups? |

So, the Big Ten has 12, the Pac-10 has 11 with more additions likely and the Big 12 has 10 with more subtractions likely.

Doesn't matter... the "student" part of "student-athlete" is dead now. |

Big XII isn't going down until 2012 (I believe), because that's when the Pac-10's contract with their current TV is up. So there's still two more years of the Big XII and Pac-10 as they are now.
Scheduling will be a woman because games have already been scheduled. Thing is in UT's case this would be their new Pac-16 schedule in 2012: 4 OOC, @ CU, OU, Zona, OSU, @ Tech, Zona St, @ USC, aggy. So, in reality they will only play three new teams.
I think if OOC and Conference games get blurred over that time, you'll see teams just schedule teams like MAC and Sun Belt schools just to get the wins. _________________ "All roads don't lead to Oxford. Hmmm. OU's president and AD have both said they will not go anywhere without UT.
Heck, OSU athletic director Mike Holder wrote: "We just want to be with Texas when the dust settles!"
aggy to the SEC seems more realistic than the Dirt Burglars. _________________ "All roads don't lead to Oxford. To get here, you have to want to get here. But once you're here, you never want to leave" - Dr. Phillip Shriver |

From everything I've heard/read, conference changes take place 2012, no earlier. _________________ Mollautt to Big A HG: "Dude, you need to bow down and kiss our rings. You are talking to giants."

On Tuesday, UT will announce it's position to move into the Pac-10 at the Board of Regents meeting. Same can also be said for OU, OSU, and TTU. agric is apparently still trying to get into the SEC. _________________ "All roads don't lead to Oxford. To get here, you have to want to get here. With Boise apparently "in" in the MWC, I think it'd be smart for the MWC to grab the rest of the Big-12. But, speculation aside, we'll soon see what happens. _________________ Miami University---4 years that changed my life for the better. |

The thing that disappoints me the most is no one is thinking about, "Whats best for college football?", but "How can I make more money?". Are sportsmanship and integrity in college football's vocabulary anymore? _________________ "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither safety nor liberty" ~ Ben Franklin |

Sorry...just a rant, but seriously??? Why would a school leave the Big 12 for the PAC-10? There must be a leadership issue. _________________ "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither safety nor liberty" ~ Ben Franklin |

nick....how would you have the following scenarios play out?
Big Tenlevenwelve goes to 16 teams
Pac-10 goes to 16 with the other 5 Big 12 schools (relatively easy)
SEC expands to 16 by raiding ACC
ACC goes to 14 by raiding Big East
Mountain West goes to 14 by taking on 4 out of 5 remaining Big 12 schools or 16 with all 5 plus 1
consolidation kills off Big 12 and Big East
6 BCS conferences compress to 5..... |

Sportsmanship is on the field.
I don't see how re-alignment attacks the sport's integrity. It isn't like any conference is permanent. The B12 isn't even that old. |

The big XII proper may not be that old, but the majority of the schools have been together for decades via the Big 8, SWC, etc. _________________ "I believe in the love that you gave me

HawklBacker...tough to say as everything is so fluid.
However I think:
PAC10 will add: Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State...and UTAH! to get to 16 teams.
SEC will add Texas A&M will get it to 13 teams and then add a team from the ACC to get to 14
The Mountain West will add: Kansas, Missouri and Iowa State after it loses Utah to the PAC10
The Big 10 will stand pat.
