Griffin McKenzie

I am announcing at this point, that I have chosen to continue my basketball career at another university. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here at Xavier and greatly value all the relationships I have developed. I want to thank the Xavier coaching staff for providing me an opportunity to play for such a great university and basketball program. I also want to thank my friends and family for attending my games and supporting me throughout my basketball career. I value the relationships I have developed with my teammates and friends at Xavier. I will miss them greatly.

Quote:
Xavier transfer Griffin McKenzie considering visits to Penn and Davidson

Xavier transfer Griffin McKenzie, a former Moeller standout, is receiving interest from several schools, according to Moeller basktetball coach Carl Kremer.

Kremer said he has received several phone calls about the former Moeller standout since news broke this week. Kremer met with McKenzie today to discuss his options.

Penn, Davidson, Northwestern, William & Mary, Wofford, Furman, Boston University and Brown are among the schools interested, Kremer said.

Kremer said Davidson and Penn are at the top of McKenzie’s list of places to visit.

McKenzie, a 6-9 sophomore forward, announced this week he is transferring from Xavier.

Kremer said McKenzie is looking for a high academic school and will be able to take up to five visits during the process. He is a sophomore academically at Xavier, Kremer said.

Xavier is a very good academic school, but not just anyone can walk into Penn and say "I want to play for you."

Davidson isn't exactly a safety school, either.
