Seven hundred teams below the cut line. 218 penalized, and the rest apparently were granted waivers of some kinds.

Looks like most of the big boys skated . . . again. |

Right --- LSU must have been well below the threshhold for Idaho to lose so many scholarships! |

I'm still digging through the information, but Miami golf, soccer, and tennis all were honored for high marks.
Of some amusement, Marshall managed to hit 926 for its football APR (the penalty "cut line" is 925), which makes them the clubhouse leader for the Bob Barker award. |

OSU's basketball team somehow doesn't lose a scholarship? Three players leave early last year, another leaves this year. _________________

| Why, again, do we need, or want, Temple? AND give them preferential treatment with scheduling? I thought academics was part of our conference requirements? Not so much, I guess. |

| More power to them. Miami has maintained a top 15 ranking in the APR every year it has been done, but I'd like to see it become as hard to keep up in this race as it is in building facilities or paying coaches. |

Meh, I was more frustrated by Davidson.
Elite 8 showing and a top 15 ranking in Academics.
Can't really understand how UGA is tied with Miami.

...and some other schools we love to hate:
Dayton 977 (1
Butlerban 947 (7
OSU 942 (9
Cincy 939 (111)
Marshallll 926 (149)
Each of these would rank in the top half of the MAC APR-wise. _________________ Love and honor.

...and a final piece of analysis before I hit the sack:
Number of BCS schools in top 20% APR: 12 (Stanford, Duke, Rutgers, Boston (of Massachusetts) College, Northwestern, Miami Fla, Notre Dame, Cal, Georgia, Penn State, Wake, Florida)
Number of BCS schools in bottom 20% APR: 2 (Arkansas, Arizona). _________________ Love and honor. |

Recalculate your numbers Crashdad based upon only Division I-A Football schools and see if you get the same results. There has been plenty written about how the APR works strongly against Historically Black colleges. _________________

Good point, as applied to the bottom 20%. But a lot of the top 20% are IAA schools, and if we took them out, I'd think BCS would dominate the upper quintile. But I'm too tired to do that calc tonight... _________________ Love and honor. |

Yes. These numbers make you question the conference's idea of academic success.
Of course, a tip of the cap to our fellow Miamians, again. _________________ "We will shoot for perfection...but nobody's perfect. But we'll shoot for perfection and we'll settle for excellence."
