6'8" PF out of Springfield, OH. Also plays football and is pretty physical. Miami was one of the first schools to offer him.

Here are some highlights from him: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3604817/darius-harper

Miami football has offered. We have also said he can play BOTH football and basketball, the only school to do so thus far. He has been on campus and really likes Miami

How does that work with the scholarship limits? Would he count against both limits?

I believe the scholarship can be split. Heck, give the young man a tennis scholarship and save half of one in each sport. Laughing

I also believe he could be a football scholarship player and basketball walkon or visa versa.

Edit: I'm wrong. If they play football, it's always 100% football. The NCAA instituted that rule because teams were having kids on baseball and track scholarship to circumvent the 85 rule. So he would be a football scholarship player and basketball walkon. Meaning we could theoretically have 13 scholarship caliber players on the basketball team.

Yes, that is the "Bear Bryant Rule" - Alabama use to have a lot of football players on scholarships of other sports.
