Alex Gacek named USHL Offensive Player of the Week.

five points (2g, 3a) to lead the Phantoms to a pair of victories. He capped Youngstown’s five-goal second period on Friday during the 6-3 win over Team USA. The 18-year-old then produced a USHL career high four points (1g, 3a) in Saturday’s 6-1 victory against Team USA.

If he finds his game along with what we know we have over the next couple years, this team is going to be offensively gifted.

Saw him once last season and again three months ago, and while I thought he was better the second time I was thinking he needed another year in juniors.

His speed was impressive but he's awfully small and hasn't impressed me defensively. I was thinking at the time he was about A-Wide was at that age.

But he's still young and it looks like he's really stepping up now.

Wow. As if his tough reputation hadn't been documented enough.

Siroky's stats this year

38 games. 21-25--46. 3ppg. 39 PIM.

Thanks for putting the stats together, I don't have the time to do that like I used to.

Gracias. I had seen that 2010/2011 stat line in an article and just threw it in my spreadsheet, then forgot to go back and link to his current pointstreak table. Whoops.

Fredrickson was delt to the Traverse City North Stars (NAHL), hence why I've had him stuck at 16 GP for about 2 months now.

With his new team: 5 GP 1-1--2 24 PIM

I think you're right on, and I don't know either what Hartman's situation is. Obviously he would have to be a senior in HS now, and Sept. 30 is a little late of a birthdate for that these days (I'm an Oct. 23 Illinois birthday and I started HS at 13, but that doesn't happen as often in the 21st century).

His hometown is listed as West Dundee, Ill., so I'm hoping he started school in Illinois, because then he probably is a senior this year.

Haven't heard anything about the Effinger brother -- I heard that from a good source, and I think he moves into the Saksa club-to-varsity role.

Barber sounds like he's definitely in, but we're going to have to sweat it out again because he's a juniors flight risk. Got to meet him this season, and he's a really nice kid.

I like the way the team stacks up. I think the first month or two could be a jelling process, but with a healthy Mullin and Czarnik plus everyone else returning this team could be something special.

Pending any swift kicks below the belt following the draft next month, it would seem that we have our 2012-2013 roster:

Defense: 9

Fr Chris Joyaux
Fr Matt Caito
Fr Patrick Sieloff
Fr Michael Mooney
So Shayne Bingham
So Ben Paulides
Sr Garrett Kennedy
Sr Joe Hartman
Sr Steven Spinell

Forwards: 15

Fr John Doherty
Fr Kevin Morris
Fr Sean Kuraly
Fr Riley Barber
Fr Alex Gacek
So Austin Czarnik
So Alex Wideman
So Cody Murphy
So Jimmy Mullin
So Blake Coleman
Jr Bryon Paulazzo
Jr Max Cook
Sr Curtis McKenzie
Sr Steve Mason
Sr Marc Hagel

Goalies: 3

Fr Ryan McKay
Fr Jay Williams
Fr Alex Effinger

12 Freshmen...should be interesting!

Bingham walked on last year after Murphy bailed on his commitment for the OHL. He did not dress for any games.

Hagel is a transfer from Princeton who has already graduated and will be able to play out his final year of eligibility this fall.

According to Ryan Jones' twitter page, Michael Mooney has joined the team.

A defenseman with Alexandria last season, he recorded two goals and 22 assists.

We have certainly been spoiled by the guys who have played between the pipes since our postseason streak began. Hopefully, Ryan will be able to continue that. I'm sure it's part of how we signed him, but he has to be excited to get in and play right away.

Also, it is kind of cool that he and his teammate and Co-Goalie of the Year, Gothberg, will get to play each other regularly starting their sophomore seasons with Gothberg headed to UND.

Can't wait; but, I like the warm weather, so I'm torn between two worlds...warm weather and Miami hockey...oh well!
