In July the Akron Coaching Staff claimed to have only one scholarship available; Kretzer accepted on terms that he would have the bid secured. Recently, SF Reggie McAdams comitted to Akron as well; thus, Kretzer & McAdams will be vying for the same scholarship.

With playing time in question for both SF's it's likely one or the other may end up somewhere else.

Keep the faith Hawk fans!

boy that is confusing. So Akron offered two guys the same scholarship?

I would think that the longer Jake is committed to Akron, the fewer options he would have as those other potential suitors would be filling up.

Best of luck to Jake...hopefully the Miami staff hasn't moved on....but if it has, it is certainly understandable.

Let both kids play H-O-R-S-E. Winner gets the ride, loser can move on !!! Very Happy

It's a happy day in Flash land.

Very Happy

Quote:
Spicer had offers from Central Michigan, Minnesota and Western Michigan. He was also known to be considering Western Kentucky, Rhode Island, Oakland, Dayton, St. Bonaventure and Ohio University.

Quote:
Spicer is the baby-faced assassin, as Sheldon found out on a couple blocked shots, and myriad would-be defenders found when that long body extended for major league two-handed dunks. Spicer doesn't just dunk, he has some effective fakes and up-and-under moves, using the rim as a shield.

Ball State picked up their fourth commit of 2012, adding 6'11" 200lb C Mading Thok. The big man out of Indiana joins guards Michael Ramey and Marcus Posley in addition to power forward Bo Calhoun as players that will become Cardinals next year.

Scouting report:
Thok is a long, north/south athlete with good bounce if he has a step to gather himself. In the post, Mading is strong to the rim with his left shoulder. Mading will finish drop off passes with two-handed, monstrous dunks. Defensively, he has good timing on rotating over and blocking shots. Mading rebounds the ball at the rim and in a crowd. His length makes it difficult to score over top of him, and he is disciplined enough to stay on the floor until his opponent jumps.

Kent adds Darren Goodson of Pensacola State College, formerly from Aiken. I know Moll and NickSkin know him well.

From David Carducci, KSU beat writer. http://www.recordpub.com/news/sports_article/5108629

Write up reminds me of a slightly taller Jarrod Jones when he came out.

6-11 and 200 lbs might indicate he will redshirt and try to beef up a bit before playing at this level.

I saw this kid play in the state tourney (Pickerington won the DI championship) and was impressed.
Long, athletic and had a nice shot.

Was he recruited by Miami previously?

No. Miami recruiting has been basically shut down for the past year or so with the lame duck staff.

BTW...Dayton already offered him once the release came through.

According to the Akron Beacon Journal, Kent State landed a commitment from former Wake Forest 6-8 245lb power forward Melvin Tabb (Raleigh, N.C./Midland College) on Thursday.

Tabb spend one season at Wake, averaging 1.6 points and 2.0 rebounds in 14 games. He was dismissed from the team in February 2011 for "conduct detrimental to the team" after being involved in the theft of a classmates iPod and attempting to sell it.

Tabb joins fall signees Khaliq Spicer (Dearborn Heights, Mich./Robichaud), Chris Ortiz (Brooklyn, N.Y./South Kent), Kellon Thomas (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport H.S.) and Darren Goodson (Cincinnati/Pensacola State College) for the Golden Flashes.
