Disappointed Vandelay chose not to do their customary full write up school by school. I always looked forward to that. _________________ "The Blues had a baby and they named it Rock and Roll!!"

A couple of thoughts. The staff went out early and recruited Ohio hard and got quite a few early committs, but none of those guys were the bluechip recruits which earned us this #1 ranking. The staff really got some bigtime recruits late in the game.
Our offensive line has been a huge problem area, and 3 of these toprated recruits play OL (including a TE here). Those guys might well contribute right off the bat, especially David at TE. Usually OL and QB are the postiions where experience is most important, but even so these freshmen might play right away.
We have had 4 primetime night games on the ESPN family of networks each of the last two seasons, plus a MAC championship game and a bowl game. Most of those games were the only fb game that night. Getting many of these recruits from the South is a very strong indication that that exposure is important. These guys know that family and friends back home can watch them play and they knew something about Miami when our recruiters showed up. _________________ Miami University...17 NCAA tournament appearances...4 Sweet 16's. |

i think it has less to do with "primetime" (not sure i consider a tues/wed nite game primetime) exposure and more to do with the recruiting network and relationships in the south that haywood (lsu) and willis (born/raised/schooled/coached) leveraged/are leveraging.... _________________ grinding the 53x11 |

I would not really include David in the OL discussion for early impact....he'll be a pass catching threat...that's where he'll make is mark early. _________________ ONIONS!

I think the term "prime time" refers to telecasts between 8 and 11 EST. I understand that having a recruiter with area connections is also an important part of the puzzle, but I think the tv exposure is huge. _________________ Miami University...17 NCAA tournament appearances...4 Sweet 16's. |

Among the top teams, the MAC had it's best recruiting year in a while. I think that is due in large part to the style of play that the Tuesday through Thursday night games showed on ESPN.
Between us, Toledo, Temple, ou and Northern Illinois there were a lot of points scored - entertaining stuff. |
