I did not catch the message thread that got him the boot, but his behavior and actions over the years has been somewhat abusive. Having witnessed his rants in regards to Bo Boroski, I can only image what was said to cross the line here. _________________ "Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory." -- George S. Moreover, you're a f**cking idiot who needs to learn what the words "majority" and "offending" mean.
"Alex and some other folks on a message board who are looking for something to b*tch about because Miami has a bad football team" does not equal "majority of people who dislike MUMB's musical selections."
No one is "offended" at classical music or Broadway or classic rock. They may not like it, it may not be their taste, they may wish for something else to be played. They are not "offended."
Again, if you don't like the halftime show, get your douche-bag-who-managed-to-get-ejected-from-his-own-basketball-arena-before-the-game-even-started ass up and go get some f**cking popcorn.
I suspect your entire beef with "Sweet Caroline" is because of the song's association with the Red Sox rather than your expert musical knowledge. So, stick a sock in it and confine your commentary to something you know something about. |

| Quote: | MHT has long prided itself on that sense of community, and the administrators aim to keep it intact. yanksalex's posting privileges have been suspended in the best interests of the site.

i'll add my $.02 cents here.
alex may or may not have deserved to be suspended, I'll leave that to the Mods judgment, but why wasn't some punishment meted out against TD? I agree with TD's stance on the whole band issue, but he was far more out of line than Alex was and if Alex's behavior was worthy of punishment, shouldn't TD's be?
I think the mods should give us a clue into what they were thinking in punishing Alex but not TD. _________________ “If you don't have goals, you are just wandering around.” - Ryan Jones |

I won't claim to speak for the mods. But ... I've been around here long enough to know how this sort of thing happens. Nobody gets banned or even suspended around here without having received ample off-line warning and opportunity to redeem themselves. Alex used up those alternatives. I don't recall any previous line-crossing by TD, so I would guess that he'd be granted an off-line warning just like Alex I'm sure was. _________________ Franchising accounts for 15.3% of the jobs in the U.S. private sector. I got banned years ago for basically agreeing that if students wanted to rush the field after a win they should go for it. I guess I should have just called them all f'n idiots and everything would have been fine. Waiting for DG to show up and send us all to our rooms! _________________ buy , sell or rent click it

i think the TD thread was only one of the reasons for this ban....
i like alex....love his passion for miami....and agree that at times he gets carried away....
i'll still buy him a cheesesteak at tony luke's this year prior to the temple game....BUT he'd better have a damn good apology for MrG....that insult is not something i take lightly....take a shot at the administration for dropping the ball on MrG's efforts, fine....taking a shot at MrG....not cool.... _________________ grinding the 53x11 |

I would probably vote for a 2 game suspension. I think the mods made an effort to let Alex know that he was crossing some lines and he ignored them. If he really meant to demean Mr.G's efforts that was just meanspirited, but I don't think of Alex as being a meanspirited person. Mods have been unhappy with Alex before and this is not his first banning, so that gets considered when you dish out punishment.
I see no longrange benefit to keeping Alex off this board, he loves Miami and Miami sports and he is intelligent and creative and interesting. My personal wish is that he would tone it down a little sometimes, but then I did not grow up with 10 million people in New York where making noise is sometimes the only way to get noticed or get ahead. I have spent enough time around Alex and some of his friends to know that he has far more good traits than bad, and the fact that some of his friends are fighting for him is because they see that side of him.

Is there a correlation between the ascendancy of Alex's posting and the descendency of amongst others, DG, RedSteve, Dodo, MUfan, MU CLEVELAND 01, Papa Lou, others? _________________ "I am attempting to build a nemonic memory circuit, with stone knives and bearskins."

I can only speak for myself, but having 2 small kids impacts my availability and interest in participating on MHT.com
I still lurk periodically, but engaging in pissing matches over the ineptitude of Charlie Coles, the Chicago Cubs, Football vs. Basketball vs. Hockey attendance, heated discussions on Judaica ... well...

I didn't see that post by The Sackman, but I do know that if you read his blog you would understand that a comment like that is completely sarcastic. The problem with internet communication is that you never hear the tone or inflection, thus leading to much misinterpretation. |

I am a native New Yorker and we don't get best noticed by being the loudest, moreso if we are more clever than others. The NY stereotype doesn't fit us all.
Not everyone in Ohio is a farmer, right?
BTW, I graduated Miami in 1978 and was never a great fan of the Miami Mulching, er Marching, Machine. _________________ I thought I was too old, too interesting and too cool to post on sites like this. How wrong I was. |

Do you really believe that? I believe there's a relevant correlation between the increase in age and the ability to remember a MHT password. |

MUfan is still posting...
Perhaps the 5-0 start by the Lions simply shocked his system. _________________ "We will shoot for perfection... but nobody's perfect. But we'll shoot for perfection and we'll settle for excellence."

MUfan has 5 posts in 2011. That used to be a slow morning for him!
Wally I don't know, thats why I asked the question. But I sure as hell believe DG has pulled away from this site because of the turn in decorum on this site and that, IMO is not a good thing. Can't speak for him or for any of the others but would love to know if there is a correlation. _________________ "I am attempting to build a nemonic memory circuit, with stone knives and bearskins."
