A friend from Miami who is a graduate student in physics at Maryland reports that the National Institute of Standards and Technology closed for the day.
You would think that, of all the buildings in the DC area to remain open, it would be the one with research facilities devoted to earthquake hazard reduction. _________________ "Psycho was low on talent. I'm fine, but I'm not in Richmond at the moment. I'm in the OBX. We did feel it. We were on the third floor and thought somebody on the second floor was having a pretty zesty afternooner. Word is that things back home are fine, but I've heard a few stories of cracked picture frames and such. _________________ Franchising accounts for 15.3% of the jobs in the U.S. private sector. That's good to hear, but just so you know I had hard hats, safety vests, pry bars, sledge hammers, and my 14-year old beagle standing by. |

We were rocking a little bit in downtown Detroit. Stronger and longer than the Canadian earthquake a year or so ago. Felt like I was in one big hula hoop. _________________ "We will shoot for perfection, and we can settle for excellence."

NIST doesn't really do anything with hazard reduction, but yeah, good point! |

Old School Scholar and I were sitting in the upper deck at Progressive Field when it started swaying . Lasted about 30 seconds to a minute. I was the first person to yell out "it's an earthquake. Probably about half the people sitting around us got uneasy and left (where are you going to go? It takes about 5 minutes to walk downstairs.) I was getting dizzy. This was my second earthquake experience and this one lasted longer and shook harder. The earthquake did not seem to have much of an effect on the lower deck or game on the field, but in the upper deck and evidently the pressbox it was a little scary. _________________ Miami University...17 NCAA tournament appearances...4 Sweet 16's. |

I was talking to a buddy with the Cavs and he said they had to evacuate the Q. Didn't realize it was that potent in Cleveland. |

=>There was also hurricane this past weekend as well that hit the east coast. Supposedly as it went through NY harbor it blew up Lady Liberty's robe. _________________ @dandakich "Yo Minnesota ..old school IU fans didn't think a state of the art practice facility was necessary either..old school means old results"

| The hurricane I heard about, and some things didn't change, one of the Bengals was in court/jail again. Since the only place I saw mention of the earthquake was on here I wondered if you caused it Mollautt - what were you doing in that building downtown?? |
