It has been about 4 years since I have been back to Oxford. I am amazed in a bad economy how many new buildings. At this rate uptown will be all new in about 4 years. _________________ Jay Colville, called George Little “perhaps the greatest of the Miami coaches”

I can imagine your surprise if you hadn't been back to campus in 4 years. Just off the top of my head some new things that were built are the Farmer School of Business, possibly the psychology building, Wendy's torn down, Cold stone and Qdoba torn down, Stewart Square was built, new Duboise in uptown location, UDF remodel, Kroger's remodel with gas station, new McDonalds. I'm sure I'm missing a ton of buildings. _________________ Scalp the S$!t out of that song, bring back signs, make it fun. Redskins Forever!!!! Bagel and Deli!!! Ron Tammen Lives!!!! |

I always have mixed emotions about uptown Oxford. It's becoming, IMHO too close to becoming one big apartment complex. I don't want there to be no uptown in the uptown.
But as much of the lack of an "uptown presence" is as much a result of big box stores as it is anything else. _________________ Season ticket holder football and hockey since 1995

I disagree, uptown becomes better with more students that live up there. It increases commerce, it helps the shops that are up there, and frankly it looks a lot better. _________________

Some buildings uptown not only have income generated from 1st floor commerical tenants, but some have up to 40 students paying $4,500 to $5,000 a semester for rent on the upper floors _________________ "Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory." -- George S. Patton |
