A 3 star Defensive Tackle that plays next to fellow recruit Martin Aiken for Bamberg HS in South Carolina.

Deleon is 6'1, 270 lbs and has a lot of offers.

Would be pretty cool to have two big guys from the same high school clogging up the middle and harassing quarterbacks together.

Do we have any other guys except for the obvious brother combos that played together in high school?

Deleon and Aiken probably could contribute as true freshmen and if they are as good as advertized, first team all-MAC by the time they are juniors.

either of these two would be probably the top recruit to come to Miami in years (givens was a 4 star at one point before giving his verbal to us)

No info yet, only a few visits to BCS schools in their area, but everything I've read about their desires in a school seems to fit what we can offer...play early, win, academics

If this new staff can get recruits like this in for campus visits, Oxford has a way of selling itself like no other college can. It's just getting them to visit Very Happy

Two great recruits that would be a coup to land.

Can't stress enough how respectful and energetic this young man was on the phone. His coaches had nothing but praise for him as well.

Follow up interview should be later this week to see how the trip went.

Nice job on the interview. Hope we can get these guys, over the years getting this kind of dl has been our most difficult recruiting challenge.

Great interview...hopefully the coaches check out MHT, because we know recruits do. Also, hopefully said coaches will be more open to share some recruiting information so we can discuss possible recruits and make the recruits feel welcomed

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. I'm definitely going to keep writing...and I'm more than willing to take suggestions via PM.

As to the staff, I think they're coming around. They know the importance of MHT and the Scout site in regards to showing these kids how great of a fanbase community we have.

Not quite yet...soon.

But as a teaser, I can tell you that it includes the quotes "home away from home" and "right fit." Very Happy

Haha, me too. He wants to do his announcement in his hometown, though and isn't able to do that until July 9th because he's away at an academic camp for the next 3 weeks.

Pretty good excuse in my book.

It's a waiting game for now.

The Times and Democrat 7.1.11 "Elite 11 Watch: Bamberg-Ehrhardt's David DeLeon"

Quote:
David DeLeon was a T&D All-Area second-team offensive lineman last season. But, defensive tackle is where DeLeon's future lies. And, what a future it appears to be. At least, the 6-0, 270-pound rising senior has a host of colleges that think as much. Among those to offer DeLeon are Colorado, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami (OH), Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Texas Tech and Wake Forest. A powerful player, DeLeon has The T&D's attention too and stands a good chance to make the Elite 11.

I believe announcement has been delayed...perhaps a week.

David wants to make the announcement in his home town and was originally scheduled to come home Saturday, but I believe he stayed at his college prep AP math and science camp for another week.

I'll let you know when I hear more.
