Miami tennis spanks #40 ranked Marshall in Hamilton today
| Quote: | | The Miami University women's tennis team squeezed out the doubles point and never looked back, winning five of six singles matches en route to a 6-1 upset victory over No. 40 Marshall Friday afternoon inside the Riverside Racquet Club. The win was the RedHawks' (8-4) first over a top-40 team in school history while snapping the Thundering Herd's (11-3) four-match win streak. |
any win over Marshall is a good win, but this is a strong win for the 'Hawks. |

Huge victory for the tennis team. First ever over a top 40 team. Pretty good record this year at 8-4. Should challenge for the MAC title. This team swept both Xavier and Dayton 7-0 already this year and whooped up on UC 5-2 as well. The dominant ladies team in the area. To bad we no longer have a mens team. They were pretty good in my day. _________________ "The Blues had a baby and they named it Rock and Roll!!"

There are over 300 woman's tennis teams in Division I, so yes, seems reasonable. |

I was there and saw this one with my own eyes. Had a courtside seat and the price was right. Fine job by Miami's netters. Coach Dumitrescu was beaming after this one.
Good thing this contest was scheduled for inside at the Riverside Racquet Club in Hamilton; cold and rainy outside all day.
Next home match for Miami will be at the Hepburn Courts in Oxford on Friday, March 25 at 1:00PM against Toledo. _________________ It's "Miami University," plain and simple! For as long as the wind shall blow! |

Didn't know that. But, that still doesn't answer the question since there are over 300 men's and women's basketball teams, too, and they only rank to 25. No biggie. Great win for our girls. Just struck me funny. _________________ http://redskinwarriors.com |

If, in addition to the 25 basketball teams who get ranked, you count up all the others at the end of the list "receiving votes," that total exceeds 40. So, yes, tennis can rank lots and lots of teams.
Always fun to knock off #40, especially when it's The Marshall Blundering Turd! _________________ It's "Miami University," plain and simple! For as long as the wind shall blow! |

So were you there watching tennis which happened to be played by girls, or were you watching girls who happened to be playing tennis? _________________ Miami University...17 NCAA tournament appearances...4 Sweet 16's. |
