I thought the ESPNU team did an excellent job. They raved over the Miami defenders and loved the forecheck in the 3rd period.

It wasn't a bad broadcast. There were definitely occasional moments of Michigan slant, but overall they were MILES better than the guys who did the CCHA game last weekend who were OBVIOUSLY rooting for Michigan!

True, other than two other regions got HD and we were stuck in SD.

The play by play guy I thought was pretty fair- he is the Lake Erie Monsters PBP guy now.

The color commentary tried his best to be impartial- you could sense a little of his bias- but I thought he was pretty good.

Much better than fat bastard from Boston in the studio

Bob Norton.

Damn. I was hoping "fat bastard from Boston" was a new word censor.

Was Bob Norton even in the studio this year? I didn't see him, but I missed much of the TV coverage outside of last night.

I saw in the other thread that Will Weber was not on the all-regional team. He seemed to be all over the place last night, even the ESPNU crew made mention of it once or twice. So I thought I would give him props here rather than in the other thread.

No, Norton was there at least for Friday and Saturday. I actually didn't see him after RIT dumped his beloved UNH Wildcats.

Agreed. They were trying to not show their bias. They gave credit to Miami and raved about great play all around. But, periodically, they fell back into siding with Michigan. (Which is understandable, if I heard correctly that they both played for Michigan.) For the most part, though, I thought they did a decent job of being neutral.

Got to agree on the broadcast team last night - they were WAY better than the two schleps who covered the CCHA game - though it was on the B10 network, so you've to to take it with a grain of salt.

Also, whoever posted on the PbP guy's voice going up an octave whenever the puck got close to the net was right - he would just start screaming like his hair was on fire even if the puck was fired in 10 feet wide of the net.

In the immortal words of Dr. Kron: Take him to Detroit!

I thought he kind of sounded like Gus Johnson. I liked it lol.

BTW, Seg just gave us a huge shoutout on The Stooge Report. He actually got Rico, Hirschfeld and Knapp's names right. Awesome to hear some love from 700.

I was just thinking about this. Was last nights game the longest game in school history?

In recent history, the Air Force NCAA game went OT a couple years ago and then last year obviously, but I don't think either of those games went two OT's. It would have to be a CCHA tourney game or an NCAA game. Before recently we had only had two NCAA's before my time- If there was a longer game, it would have to be a CCHA tourney game. I'm also assuming the NCAA has never played games out during the regular season. Anyone know any different?

An article on ESPN.com said it was Miami's first double OT game in program history. Take that for what its worth, but their research is usually good.

So, any chance of getting this one archived?
