CLEVELAND, OHIO - The 2009 MAC Tournament Champion Miami RedHawks have been selected to win the 2010 MAC Softball Tournament and the East Division Championship. After claiming the West Division Championship last season Ball State was picked to win the West again, as chosen by the league's head coaches.
The Miami RedHawks return 13 letterwinners from the 2009 team that was 33-24 overall, 13-9 in the Mid-American Conference and won the MAC Tournament Championship, as well as the first NCAA Tournament game in school history. Leading the way is the MAC Tournament MVP, sophomore pitcher Jessica Simpson. She is coming off a season where she was 24-12 with a 2.17 ERA. The 24 wins was the second-most single season in school history. The RedHawks also boast a deep and versatile offense led by senior shortstop Sarah Billstrom and senior outfielder Alicia Hogl. Billstrom hit .331 in 2009, with seven home runs and 31 RBI. Despite missing half of the season due to injury, Hogl returned to hit .321 with four home runs and 17 RBI in 31 games last season.
The 2010 MAC Softball Tournament will be held a Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio May 12-15. For more information on MAC Softball visit www.mac-sports.com. |

| Why does Akron get the MAC tourney? Is the tourney rotated among sites? Does Oxford get to host next year if Miami wins regular season and tourney this year? |

The MAC was looking for a permanent site for the women's tournament. This is not held in the University of Akron stadium. There is a Professional softball team in Akron and the tournament is held in their stadium. The men's baseball tournament is being played every year in a minor league park in Chillicothee. _________________ Miami University...17 NCAA tournament appearances...4 Sweet 16's. |

Where the Frontier League Chillicothe Paints play? If that place is as much a dump as where the Zanesville Greys played when Zanesville had a FL team...well, what's the point of having it there? _________________ "Psycho was low on talent. | Glad to hear we are going to have a strong team this year. I love going to the softball games, they are interesting to watch. For some reason though I don't like baseball so go figure. Looking forward to the first home series of the year. |

Yes, the stadium in Chillicothe is the same place where the Chillicothe Paints play(ed), but it is anything but a dump. The old Zanesville Grays played in a "ballpark" that pretty much matched their nickname. _________________ It's "Miami University," plain and simple! For as long as the wind shall blow! |

I have played over 10 games in both the Chillicothe stadium and the Zanesville stadium. The Chillicothe stadium is so much better than the one in Zanesville, it isn't even funny. _________________ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Jefferson%2C_Ohio
