Hamilton Southeastern High School Courtney Osborn commits to Miami women's basketball - choosing Miami over Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Northwestern among others.
| Quote: | "I am really excited about the opportunity to play for Miami," Osborn said. "I really believe that it is the best place for me both academically and athletically. I know that when I step on campus, it is a place I can be successful. I am glad the decision is over."
Osborn has started for Hamilton Southeastern since her freshman year and made the Indiana Junior All-Star core team after averaging 15.8 points, 4.3 assists and 3.0 steals.
Osborn chose Miami over Wisconsin, Western Michigan, Northwestern, Ball State and Cincinnati.
"Courtney is a great leader for our program," coach Chris Huppenthal said. "She works extremely hard at both ends of the floor. I think Miami is a great choice for Courtney. She is going to get a chance to play basketball at an extremely high level and she will get an outstanding education." |

A four year HS starter at the point commits to Miami? Where have I seen this before? Oh yeah: Miami's current PG, Jenna Schone.
Jenna's a senior this year, so she'll leave some big shoes to fill. Here's hoping Courtney has a big senior year, then helps keep Miami's long run of successful point guards going!
Great news for Miami...let's keep our fingers crossed for more big verbals in the weeks to come.
Fire who, mollautt? |

According to this, she's ranked #19 in the nation among point guard recruits.
| Quote: | | Smart table-setting point guard with three-point range. She plays under great control and doesn't allow defenders to speed her up too often. Not flashy but a steady, high basketball IQ player. |
A quick google search shows she once hit 6 of 10 treys in a game...so she's got deep range like the last several RedHawk point guards (Jenna Schone, Nicki Motto, Heather Cusick, and Jamie Stewart). Looks like a great fit for the system! |

=>BTW, Matt Vogrich hit 11 treys in one AAU game last week in Vegas. He hit 9 in another one. _________________ @dandakich "Yo Minnesota ..old school IU fans didn't think a state of the art practice facility was necessary either..old school means old results"

Are you suggesting he play for our women's team? _________________ "The Blues had a baby and they named it Rock and Roll!!"

nice Q&A in the Indianapolis Star with new commit Courtney Osborn:
Royals point guard says Miami was a good fit
| Quote: | Question: You had an offer from Wisconsin (in addition to Western Michigan, Northwestern, Ball State and Cincinnati), but went with a less well-known MAC program. Why?
Answer: The Big Ten was really appealing with all it offers in terms of facilities and glamour, but Miami was a better fit for me. It had been there (recruiting me) for a couple years. I had an offer for at least a year, and it had been with me through good times and bad. I felt more at home when I talked to the coach and the team. They're already drawing up plays for me.
Q: How important was the chance to receive immediate playing time?
A: That was a big factor. Miami has a senior point guard (Jenna Schone) and doesn't have a backup. It was a big thing that there wasn't a backup, and I could step in and play.
Q: What did Miami do in the recruiting process that stands out the most?
A: The head coach (Maria Fantanarosa) was always at my summer games. She missed only a couple of games, if that. That told me they're committed, and that was a factor in the decision. |

Courtney's team HSE lost to one of the best teams in the nation, Heritage Christian on Saturday night. HC features UCONN commit Kelly Faris. Courtney had a great game though:
| Quote: | | Courtney Osborn was 5-for-11 from the 3-point line and finished with 25 points to lead Hamilton Southeastern, which dropped to 9-1. Osborn was 10-for-18 from the field, but the rest of the team was 9-for-26. |
