Beginning August 1, as a countdown to Miami's Charter Day and Bicentennial, we will begin airing a special series of the "Top 200 Miami Memories" on www.muredhawks.com. A different Miami Memory will be put up each day, chronicling the rich history of Miami athletics. Each Miami varsity sport, even those no longer available, will be included as part of this series.

While I have been narrating and producing these pieces for the web, it has been a massive undertaking for ALOT of people. Former Miami Sports Information Director, Dave Young (with your and other fans help) compiled a list of events, people, etc.. The Media Relations Department, with some assistance from our own Beerman, have been writing scripts and Bob Schmidt in the Miami archives has been an extremely valuable resource.

I am very excited about these pieces of Miami history and I hope that you'll look for them every day and will pass along this information to every Miami fan you know.

Not sure what the issue would be. I just watched the first installment on my mac, using the Safari browser. Smoeone with better mac experience might be able to lend a hand here.

I can not access using my Mac either. Seems as if I will have to download something like Flipmac, although I do not know exactly what or where to get it. I will explore.

steve - subject to copyright issues and other IP issues for embedded content, Miami should collate these 200 vignettes into a DVD package and sell them just prior to, at and after the Bicentennial celebration.

I've stickied this thread and added another that will eventually have all the memories in one post for easy viewing.

I remember the day she was killed. Her husband coached a home hockey game that night. It was an intense atmosphere, and not in a good way. It was as if everyone there, including the players for both teams, were afraid every move was somehow disrespectful. Everyt ime the intensity would pick up it would suddenly vanish and the building would get silent again.

I remember listening to that on the radio and just going nuts. You know. I kind of miss those uniforms.

Speaking of the unis...we seem to be the only road team to always wear white in Baton Rogue. I believe LSU wears the "home" purple one game per season (it may not even be once every year)...and Miami was that game in both '86 and 2002.
