| I received word this morning from Joe Palcic that Coach Hep has passed away. At this time I do not have more information. My thoughts and prayers are with the Hoeppner family and the many, many people who loved Hep like they were part of his family. |

Beyond sad. I will be sure to say a prayer for Coach Hep's friends and family. _________________ "You come into Oxford and you come up a hill.... There sits the most beautiful campus you'd ever want to see..... I looked at it and fell in love. I said, 'This is a college town!'" - Joe Novak |

sad news. such a great person with an infectious attitude. i remember meeting him for the first time prior to the start of the 2003 season. he was much bigger standing next to me than i thought he would be. his hand literally enveloped mine when he shook it. he seemed like a fatherly figure and someone you could trust. i'm sure recruits and players felt the same way when he came calling. _________________ Check out http://jacketsrequired.blogspot.com and follow @jacketsrequired on Twitter. |

From today's Detroit News:
http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070619/SPORTS08/706190342/1004/SPORTS
This was written before the news of his death. Neat little blurb about him.
| Quote: | Football players and coaches are human, though, and hardly invincible.
That's why it's so difficult to hear about the continuing health drama involving Indiana coach Terry Hoeppner, who is back in the hospital for cancer-related issues and must relinquish his coaching duties this fall to assistant coach Bill Lynch.
Hoeppner, 59, is high energy and well-liked by his coaching peers. At last year's Big Ten kickoff meetings in Chicago, he seemed full of life and ready to lead the Hoosiers back to respectability. He's a rah-rah coach, and he doesn't care who knows it, as evidenced by the loud, positive show he put on from the podium as he discussed his team last year at those meetings. |

Holy smokes. I just saw and spoke with his son Drew last month and he, as always, had remained extremely positive.
We have lost a great man. My thoughts and prayers go to Jane and the family. |

I was holding out hope 'til the end. Hep was a great man, but more importantly he was a good man. I wish there were more like him ...
My heartfelt condolences to the Hoeppner family, his friends, players and passing acquaintances. _________________ Franchising accounts for 15.3% of the jobs in the U.S. private sector. (Source: Economic Impact of Franchised Businesses)

| Very sad...he joins his mentor, Randy Walker, in passing away too early. Great enthusiasm and energy...and always stood by his players and coaches. Even after leaving Miami, I enjoyed following him and really wanted to see IU football have success. |

I was fortunate enough to meet Coach Hep a couple of times while at Miami and you couldn't help but get sucked in by his energy. My prayers go out to the family, what a terrible day. _________________ "We will shoot for perfection, and we can settle for excellence."
